Behaviour Management Policy

14.Out of bounds : whilst Savio College aims to be a second home to the students and hence keep out of bounds areas to a minimum, some areas are to be deemed to be out of bounds during normal school hours. These include: the car park, the fields surrounding the college grounds, the garages and adjacent workshops, the live-in residential area, and the old school entrance area. Other areas are out of bounds unless students are accompanied by a Salesian or an educator; these include the rooms near the Chapel, the sports hall and games room area and the fitness gym. Classrooms are also out of bounds during break time. Students are not to use the coffee area to exit or enter the school grounds or to go to the live-ins/chapel area, unless accompanied by an educator or have mobility problems. Students out of bounds are to be reprimanded verbally but repeated offences might incur more serious consequences such as a written report or an after school. Desirable behaviour: learners are to keep away from out of bounds areas. 15.Prohibited items : a. objects that can cause physical harm: students in possession of such items will be repramanded and face consequences that will included the filing of a written report (also sent to parents/guardians) as well as a suspension from school. More serious cases will be reported to the law enforcement authorities and the student excluded. b. objects that can cause distractions during lesson time c. valuable items: students are responsible for their own property and should not bring valuables or excessive amounts of cash to school d. mobile phones: these are prohibited unless students are granted special permission by the SLT and in which case the mobile phones are to be deposited in the respective SLT office at the start of the school day and then taken back at the end of the day. Undeclared mobile phones will be confiscated and parents will be asked to come up to school to collect them. 13
