"A Certificate at the end of Year 11..."

Secondary School Certificate and Profile (SSC&P)

This is a certificate awarded to students at the end of Year 11. It can be awarded at MQF Level 1, 2 or 3. The level it is awarded at depends on the amount of points that the student obtains throughout his five years of secondary education in the following areas:

Non-Formal Learning

20%
  • Non-academic Learning Activities performed by the student DURING school hours

Informal Learning

15%
  • Non-academic Learning Activities performed by the student AFTER school hours

The level that the SSC&P is awarded at is based on the following cut off points (i.e. amount of points needed):

No Level

< 29%

MQF Level 1

30% - 44%

MQF Level 2

45% - 64%

MQF Level 3

>= 65%

The certificate is built over the five years of secondary education and therefore informal and non-formal learning activities need to be built up over the five years, except for the Formal Learning part which is based entirely on the school leaving examination results.

For a student to obtain 20/20 in the Non-Formal learning part of the certificate, students need to participate at least in one non-formal activity every year of his secondary education.

For a student to obtain 15/15 in the Informal learning part of the certificate, students need to participate in at least 3 informal activities spread over three different years of their secondary education.
